Ballotine blasting is ideal for stainless steel and aluminum parts

A perfect coating requires perfect preparation. As a certified full-service powder coating shop, we know our stuff. We therefore precisely clean your metal structures before painting them.

However, each surface needs a different approach.

We always recommend ballotine blasting for stainless steel and aluminum parts. Tiny particles of glass microspheres are sprayed under high pressure onto the metal surface. The result is a clean, evenly roughened surface, to which the komaxit coating adheres perfectly.

Ballotine blasting is a surface treatment that uses a pressurized stream of small steel or iron balls, known as ballotines. This process is often used to remove dirt from a variety of materials, including metals, concrete or stone. When blasting with ballotines, they are shot onto the surface of the material using compressed air or another gas, thereby physically removing unwanted layers or impurities. Effective for removing rust, old paint and other surface defects, this process is often used in industrial and construction applications to prepare the surface prior to further treatments. Ballotine blasting can also improve the adhesion of a new paint or coating to the surface of the material.

It is extremely effective for:

We use ballotines in all cases where harsher abrasive materials could damage the substrate, and at the same time when the demands on the quality of the powder coating are uncompromising, e.g. in the engineering, automotive and aviation industries.

On the contrary, when blasting away large impurities, such as heavy deposits of the original paint, pieces of rust or during initial rough processing, we choose faster and more efficient blasting with steel grit or steel balls.

What are the biggest advantages of ballotine blasting?

Today, other methods are also used to treat surfaces before powder coating, in particular sanding or chemical cleaning. However, ballotine blasting has a number of indisputable advantages over them.

The 5 biggest benefits of ballotine blasting:

We are real professionals in powder coating. We watch every step and vouch for it. We check your metal structures, oversized parts and small pieces at the end of the process and ship them only when they are perfect.

Powder coating technology

Blasting

For exterior structures, it is absolutely necessary to blast the parts. For the interior, blasting is not always necessary, but it is advisable. Blasting increases resistance to mechanical damage (see railings, door frames, machine frames, etc.)

Surface treatment

Surface treatment ensures the layer of powder coating adheres to the metal base of the part. All our painted products are degreased and phosphated in 3 and 6 steps of spraying depending on the different use of the product (interior, exterior, humid environment)

Powder coating

Powder coating (or komaxit) is modern technology for the finishes of metal surfaces. Powder coating is a method that provides high-quality powder painting of metal surfaces. Powder coating or komaxit is a process of applying powder paint and curing it at 160-200°C. The advantage of powder coating is that it is an ecological method, so it does not pollute the environment.
